Date Movie Of The Week: Capitalism: A Love Story

October 9, 2009

Capitalism: A Love Story is Documentarian Michael Moore’s 4th offering and commentary on what is wrong with America. Essentially, this documentary takes aim at the systemic issues behind the global market collapses of the last few years. The film is geared to helping viewers understand the credit crunch, the housing crisis, global recession and the issues around the sophisticated games elite corporate America play with money that may or may not actually exist.  If you are the kind of person that can see the difference between Moore’s opinion and the clear-cut facts and points he makes, this may end up being an interesting and important movie to see and understand.  My advice: read up on how bond markets work before you take your date to the movie so that you will be able to make points during the film that show her you’re more than just a well-dressed guy.

Rotten Tomatoes rated the film at 73%. The Chicago Tribune gave it 2 1/2 out of 5 stars. Rolling Stone gave it 3 1/2 out of 4 stars. and Reelviews.net gave it 3 out of 4 stars.
