Bloomberg is reporting today that Google won the latest battle in a long-running war against LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA. The landmark victory allows Google to use and sell trademarked words on-line for their keyword and advertising link searches, which is where Google finds the majority of its revenue.

In an issue related to global media and movie distribution, China has appealed a WTO ruling that made it illegal for China to force Hollywood film producers to exclusively distribute through state-owned entities.  The WTO decision was considered a major victory for the movie industry, but China’s appeal could postpone a final decision on this issue for a long time to come.  Reuters, the LA Times, Bloomberg and Marketwatch, among others, are all covering the story.

WWD is reporting today that students are spending more on gadgets and school tools and less on clothing this year than they did last year.
