Funny Peopleis the newest Judd Apatow movie.  He’s the same person that brought us the 40 Year Old Virgin and Knocked UpFunny People is supposed to be a story of comedians dealing with a serious set of life issues.  However, initial reviews are in and not great.  The following review is from a well-written expert can be located at EW Online:

The movie, deeply personal to its maker, is too self-
absorbed to convey effectively the emotional complexity that Apatow has in mind. The message that comes across is: We’re all screwed, and then we die. Ba-DUM.

Reelviews is also giving the movie a disappointing review. The general consensus being that it has a number of audiences that it’s trying to speak to, but is too self-absorbed to be a home-run with any of them.

If you’re going to see a movie like this (a kind of sad, kind of funny, generally disappointing feature), we suggest making it an early show and taking your date out for a drink after – which gives you a chance to talk about the movie and be funny, yet sensitive. If this is the kind of film that leaves her feeling a bit vulnerable; it’s a good chance to make her feel safer with you.

Antonio Valente suggests wearing a pair of quality jeans with casual shoes, a causal belt and a sport shirt. No blazer.
