Fabric Sourcing Tradeshow Indication of Stable Garment Industry?

July 22, 2009

MR Magazine  has posted interesting news about the very important Texworld trade show that was held in New York last week. The next show is in Paris, September 14 – 17. It’s interesting that in the middle of all the slowdowns and adjustments to the new economic reality, the fashion industry in North America is continuing to shop for fabrics.

NEW YORK—The Texworld fabric sourcing trade show, held at New York’s Javits Center last week reported its second largest attendance on record.

Last week’s show, the seventh in New York, had 138 exhibitors and 2,678 attendees. While this was a decrease in attendance of 6 percent from last year, the organizers were delighted, considering the economic climate.

“Long-term the American market is still the most important market in the world, and Texworld USA is the most important and valuable show for this market,” said Texworld’s David Audrain. “We expect the slow-down of the last year to have turned by the time we have our January 2010 edition.”Fab
